Charli XCX is preparing for a substantial film presence in 2026, starting with the fictional documentary titled The Moment.
Throughout the movie, the artist portrays what she calls as a hell version of herself.
It’s the truest representation of the music industry that I’ve ever seen, the star stated.
She clarified in a conversation: This isn’t a concert film, yet the concept originated from the pressure to create one.
The debut trailer, unveiled on Thursday, mixes actual recordings from her live performances with imagined backstage scenes.
The Moment is helmed and co-scripted by her collaborator, who shared that the plot focuses on a world where Charli opted for alternate decisions throughout the publicity of her chart-topping release Brat.
The mockumentary is just one of several upcoming screen roles for the star, who already starred in three cinematic festival entries this year.
Furthermore appeared as herself in the comedy series Overcompensating.
The coming year will also feature the star alongside Olivia Wilde in erotic drama I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in creative industry mystery The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in scary reboot Faces of Death.
She recently signed on to star in the star’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.
I’m deeply appreciating my acting journey, she stated. I feel very, very inspired currently in that field, and I solely aim to pursue projects that excite me.
February will also include the release of Emerald Fennell’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will feature fresh tracks from the singer.
Additionally, she will create the soundtrack for the drama Mother Mary, starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, scheduled for release next year.
The mockumentary is scheduled to debut on 30 January.
